artist statement

My work explores the intersections of memory, place, and cultural identity, drawing from my experiences across diverse artistic traditions and global narratives. With a background in Architectural Studies and Studio Art from Hobart and William Smith Colleges, I approach art as both a research-driven and intuitive practice—one that seeks to bridge personal and collective histories. As a writer and educator, my engagement with language shapes my visual work, allowing me to translate complex narratives into both text and image.

From managing a predominantly American art collection to engaging in community-driven projects like the Dove Block Project in Geneva, NY, my practice has evolved into a dialogue between preservation and reinterpretation. Immersive experiences, such as exhibiting at CityLab Berlin and studying Indian miniature painting in Pakistan, have deepened my commitment to understanding art within its broader historical and social contexts. My work as a Writing Colleague has further honed my ability to facilitate critical discussions, a skill that informs my artistic practice as I navigate the layered relationships between people, places, and histories.

I am drawn to art’s ability to create inclusive spaces—whether through exhibition, research, writing, or education. My work aims to honor the complexity of artistic narratives while making them accessible and resonant. By synthesizing diverse artistic traditions, I seek to challenge conventional boundaries, fostering connections between past and present, tradition and experimentation, the personal and the universal.
